أعلنت السلطات في إقليم كتالونيا (شمال شرقي إسبانيا) إصابة 37 متظاهرا وإلغاء 108 رحلات، إثر اشتباكات مع الشرطة في مطار برشلونة، على خلفية أحكام بسجن 12 من قادة الانفصاليين.

وقالت الشرطة الإقليمية إنها ألقت القبض على اثنين من المتظاهرين بتهمة مهاجمة الضباط، وألقى المحتجون طفايات الحريق الفارغة وغيرها على الشرطة، مما اضطر الضباط لاستخدام الرصاص المطاطي، والهراوات لرد الحشود الهائلة في المطار.

وهاجمت قوات مجهزة بمعدات مكافحة الشغب المتظاهرين الذين أغلقوا مدخل مطار برشلونة الدولي احتجاجًا على الإدانات الجنائية لعشرات السياسيين والناشطين الذين روجوا لاستقلال منطقة كتالونيا.

وقال متحدث باسم قوة الشرطة في كتالونيا إن الضباط كانوا يحاولون الحفاظ على سلامة المطار من خلال السيطرة على مساحة بين المتظاهرين ومدخل المطار.

وفي وقت سابق الاثنين، حكمت المحكمة الإسبانية العليا بسجن 12 سياسيًا وناشطًا من إقليم كتالونيا بتهمة التحريض على الانفصال عام 2017.

يُشار إلى أن الادعاء العام في إسبانيا طالب، في فبراير/شباط الماضي، بإنزال عقوبة السجن على المتهمين الـ 12 لمدد تراوح بين سبعة و25 عاما.

ومطلع أكتوبر/تشرين الأول 2017، صوّت نحو 90% لصالح الانفصال في استفتاء نظمته حكومة الإقليم السابقة بقيادة كارلس بوجديمونت.

ثم صوّت برلمان كتالونيا يوم 27 من الشهر ذاته على إعلان الانفصال مما دفع بمدريد إلى إقالة حكومة الإقليم وفرض الحكم المباشر عليه.
