بعد مرور 50 عاما على هبوط أول انسان علي القمر ، عادت وحدة تحكم مهمة أبولو إلي مجدها السابق حيث تقوم باستعادة الشكل الذي كانت علي المنشأة التابعة لوكالة ناسا  وذلك لإحياء شكل ومظهر يوليو 1969

ووفقا لما ذكرته صحيفة “ديلى ميل” البريطانية، سيكون الافتتاح الكبير للمنشأة متاح للجمهور بعد غدا الاثنين، وذلك قبل ثلاثة أسابيع فقط من الذكرى الخمسين لأول خطوات للإنسانية على القمر، حيث تتوج سنوات من العمل.

وتمت إعادة تصميم الوحدة بدقة شديدة حتى نوعية السجاد نفسه وورق الجدران باللون الرمادي والأخضر وألواح السقف البيضاء والمقاعد المبطنة بالورود ومنفضة سجائر العنبر الزجاجية وفناجين القهوة القديمة.

وقال جيم ثورنتون، مدير مشروع الترميم بوكالة ناسا، إن الهدف كان استحضار الشكل والمظهر لشهر يوليو من عام 1969، حيث إن المكان يعد معلم تاريخي وطني.

كما تم تثبيت الشاشات المسطحة لإضفاء الحيوية على لوحات المفاتيح من خلال الصور، حيث ستظهر الشاشات الكبيرة في المقدمة لقطات رئيسية من مهمة أبولو11.
